2:00pm-6:00pm

West End Avenue between 88-94th Streets, Manhattan

PARK(ing) Day is an annual international event where residents, artists and activists collaborate to temporarily transform curbside parking spots into public spaces. Activations often take the form of creating temporary parklets for community use and providing opportunities for art and civic engagement. The mission of these happenings is to call attention to the importance of urban open space and generate a dialogue about the benefits of public green space to elevate the health and quality of urban life for the surrounding neighborhood.

ASLA-NY and CCNY Student Chapter are teaming up with the NYC Public Design Commission, American Planning Association New York Metro (APA-NYM), Time Lapse Dance, Streetopia, Community Board 7, MET Orchestra and several other organizations to create a public pop-up linear park in the streets of Manhattan on September 17. We hope you will join us in celebrating equitable, inclusive public streetscapes that elevate the quality of life in our city and illustrate how open streets should continue beyond COVID.
